Hi my name is Jennifer. That’s me in the picture. The handsome guy beside me is my lovely hubby Chris and the cute little boy is my children Jonathan.
First of all, I am a career consultant by profession and I am working for a well known career consulting company in Florida. I have been in this profession for over 5 years.
As a professional career consultant, my experience says that it’s important to choose a career that not only fits your requirements such as your skills and interest but also a career that has good outlook and prospect in the future. I am sure you don’t want a dead end job that you like to be working with for the rest of your life nor do you want a career that is heading towards a downsizing.
It’s important to pick a major especially when you are still in college. My words of advice here is to choose a major that relates to you interest or hobby. There are a lot of good suggestions and tips in my blog here on how to choose a career. There are a few options such as choosing a career based on your interest or the things that you are good at or you can take a career assessment test to determine your skills and your characters.
Talking to friends or someone who is currently in the position is a good way to find out more about the particular job that you are interested in. The things that are important to know are the day to day routine of the jobs and its future prospect.
Simply choose a career based on monetary rewards is a suicidal attempt. You will not feel happy after helming the job for several years. If that is the case, you will be dragging your feet to work everyday and sooner or later, it will affect your job performance and most likely you will end up being fired or laid off.
For those who are mainly focusing on monetary achievement, my advice is to go find a job at Wall Street. You can either be a stock broker or financial traders. That’s the fastest way to make good money but some people also end up losing money or go into bankruptcy.
